I'm Tom Fitzsimmons, a life long avid photographer living and working in the nearby suburbs of Chicago. Mostly self-taught I have been intrigued with the camera as far back as the days when I bought my first camera, a battle scarred Pentax K-1000 film camera. Post retiring from the graphic arts industry and commercial photography trade I am happy to say I'm as passionate about photography today as I was then. I have always had a special liking for the drama and mood black and white photography provides and continue to use it today.
The creative freedom I seek from photography is having the flexibility to capture a diverse portfolio of work as I walk, drive or sit patiently waiting for the right moment to press my shutter button. I strive to capture a moment in time but also convey a deeper meaning, emotion, or narrative with my composition and subject matter. Essentially "telling a story" without needing additional words. The presence of people adds human interest, scale and truthful emotions of joy and misfortune.
I am always open to conversation about my photography or just photography in general.
Thanks for visiting.
